NEW NUMSA ALLEGATIONS STOOP TO NEW LOWS

Putco is once again dismayed, but not surprised, by NUMSA and its members’ continuous and desperate campaign to tarnish the image of the Company. In its latest attack, the union has shared a video in which one of its members alleges that human waste is being dumped on one of the premises where the suspended workers are stationed during working hours. What is more absurd, is NUMSA’s national office further perpetuating this lie in an official media statement.

Putco would like to categorically state that this statement is a blatant lie. Our investigation has revealed that the mobile toilet depicted in the video was reported as faulty with a water leak and did not contain any human waste. At the time the video was taken on 18 February 2024, the service provider had just delivered a new unit and was transporting the leaking one
out of the depot. A formal report by the external service provider explains that the driver was draining the remaining water from the faulty unit, to make it safe while driving, before removing it from our premises. The contracted security on site has confirmed this version of events through their filed report and video evidence.

This peddling of lies is part of their desperate attempt to galvanise public support for employees who face charges of misconduct such as intimidating of non-striking employees, damage to property, and death threats to Company representatives and witnesses at the CCMA Section 188A inquiry. Putco will not give in to NUMSA’s modus operandi of misinformation tactics.
