TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS STUDENTS VISIT DOBSONVILLE DEPOT
05 July 2024
In celebration of Youth Month, Putco partnered with transport consultancy company Fleetmax Africa to empower 23 students studying towards a qualification in transport and logistics at the South West Gauteng College’s Dube campus in Soweto on 26 June 2024. The programme aimed to equip students with industry knowledge and road safety in order for them to have a broader insight as they prepare for a career in the transport sector.
The event was held at the Dobsonville Depot where Operations Manager for Greater Soweto Sandile Ntombela welcomed the student and presented an overview of how the company operates, particularly at that depot. The students toured departments including the Traffic Office, the Private Hire office, the Accounts Department, the Wash/Fuel Bays to gain an understanding of how these departments support the daily runnings of the Operations Department.
During the workshop, the students interacted with Fleetmax Africa’s Managing Director Ashref Ismael who engaged them not only about road safety and the transport sector but also about life post the higher education stage. Ismael offered all 24 students including one Putco driver who attended the session (he is currently studying towards a qualification in transport and logistics), an educational session that will equip them with the information they need to search for jobs and that will help integrate into the workplace seemlessly. The students also received K53 manuals courtesy of Fleetmax Africa.
