Gas Sample Preparation<\/h1>\n

Gas Analyzers require a clean, dry sample to produce accurate and reliable results. Filters remove entrained particles, but removing moisture from a sample without affecting the analyses is not so simple.<\/p>\n

PermaPure\u2019s gas dryers are a superior alternative. They have no moving parts, require no maintenance, and continuously and highly selectively remove water from gas samples without affecting analyses, reaching final dew points as low as -45\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Powered by Nafion\u2122 tubing, Perma Pure gas dryers selectively remove water from a gas sample. This\u00a0selectivity for water vapor\u00a0allows our dryers to\u00a0remove more moisture than other gas drying solutions, while\u00a0keeping analytes in the gas sample.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Monotube Dryer Series\u00a0(MD-Series) gas dryers contain a single Nafion\u2122 tube. The MD-Series can dry a gas to humidity levels\u00a0as low as \u201340 \u00b0C dew point\u00a0and is ideal for applications with flow rates\u00a0up to 4 lpm.<\/p>\n

How it Works<\/h3>\n

Flow your sample gas\u00a0through\u00a0<\/b>the Nafion\u2122 tubing and flow a dry purge gas\u00a0outside\u00a0<\/b>the Nafion\u2122 tubing, countercurrent to the sample gas flow.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While the partial pressure of water in the purge gas is less than in the sample gas, Nafion\u2122 polymer will selectively transfer water and water vapor from the sample gas across its membrane and into the purge gas flow, yielding a drier sample gas at the sample gas output.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nafion\u2122 Polymer Selectivity<\/h3>\n

Nafion\u2122 tubing is highly resistant to chemical attack and exhibits highly selective absorption and transfer of compounds. Most substances completely retained in the sample. Although they do not attack or damage the Nafion\u2122 tubing, some polar organic substances are absorbed and consequently lost from the sample flow path. Ammonia and amines are also absorbed and lost to some degree, for which our scrubbers may be able to help.<\/p>\n
